Rick Clowry is a seasoned outdoor enthusiast and respected authority in wilderness skills. Beginning in childhood, he developed a passion for primitive and traditional archery. A family sport he has now been an instructor for over 25 years. This deep-rooted connection to archery has shaped much of his professional career.  His love for archery is a testament to his ultimate success in target archery and hunting with the bow and arrow.

As a certified Master Maine Guide, Rick excels in hunting, flyfishing, and recreational guiding. He rose to the position of Corporal within the Maine Warden Service (MWS), specializing in white water operations, and completed rigorous guide training while in that position on Maine’s rivers.

Rick’s extensive skills are further demonstrated through his proficiency in operating various vehicles essential for wilderness navigation. He is adept at maneuvering power boats, canoes, ATVs, and snowmobiles. Notably, he became a certified instructor in ATV operations playing a pivotal role in acquiring the first UTV for the Warden Service, enhancing the team’s capabilities in search and rescue missions.

Search and rescue operations have been a cornerstone of Rick’s career with the Maine Warden Service, where he served for 21 years and received several awards for his outstanding contributions. His dedication to wilderness safety is a testament to his combined experiences in search, rescue, and guiding.

In addition to his work with the Warden Service, Rick has made significant contributions as a supervisor for Maine Audubon at Borestone Mountain Sanctuary. A premier destination in Maine. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through in his outfitter and guide business, which he owned and operated with his family for a decade. During this time, he built several log cabins, showcasing his craftsmanship and commitment to providing authentic wilderness experiences. Rick also operates a portable sawmill, adding another dimension to his versatile skill set.
